Street Photography in Turkey. I walk through the narrow streets of Buyukada, once
known as Prigkipos, and marvel at the island’s unique beauty. In Turkish,
Buyukada means “big island,” while the name Prigkipos likely comes from the
island’s history during the Byzantine Empire, when it served as a place of
exile for princes who had their eyes on the emperor’s throne.
As I approach the
beach, I pass a charming antique shop. The vibrant colors and the sense of care
and order inside immediately catch my attention. But what surprises me most is
hearing the music of Mikis Theodorakis playing from within the store.
It is the noon of August 17, 2025. “Here’s a glimpse of the beautiful streets of Istanbul. Check out this street photography in Buyukada Island in Turkey
